The University of Glasgow is hosting the 21st European Association of Archaeologists’ Annual Conference from 2nd-5th September 2015.  

 

The Our Place in Time Arts Festival is the creative fringe that complements the Conference featuring the work of Scotland's leading artists.  

 

Designed to open access for audiences in Scotland and abroad the Our Place in Time Arts Festival celebrates our historic environments through visual and literary arts.

 

The Our Place in Time Arts Festival is on through September.

Wandering Home, an exhibition of new photographs by Thomas Joshua Cooper will be on show at Glasgow Cathedral and at Govan Old Parish Church. 

 

A new publication, Trace, looks at artistic responses to Scottish archaeology with contributions from, amongst others, visual artists Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Thomas Joshua Cooper and the Boyle Family with poetry and text including George Mackay Brown, Kathleen Jaimie and  Ian Hamilton Finlay.

 

The winners of the Dig Art! 2015 art competition will be featured on banners along the railings of University Avenue, next to Glasgow University.

 

The Our Place in Time Arts Festival is linked, through The Pilgrims' Crozier, to the major Conference exhibition at the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery: Cradle of Scotland: the archaeology of the Strathearn Environs and Forteviot.

 

The Opening Ceremony at Glasgow City Halls and Fruitmarket on 2nd September will be live streamed at EAA Glasgow 2015. It will feature the inaugral procession of the newly commissioned Pilgrims' Crozier, art films and the playing of the Deskford Carnyx.
